Regular Season Round 11: Aix-Maurienne - Caen 63-96

Date: December 22, 2017
Not a big story in a game when 15th ranked Aix-Maurienne (3-8) was outscored by eighth ranked Caen (6-5) in Aix-les-Bains 96-63 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Caen. Aix-Maurienne was better in third quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Caen dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Aix-Maurienne's 38. They outrebounded Aix-Maurienne 36-24 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. American power forward Jarvis Williams (198-93, college: Murray St., agency: Octagon Europe) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Sebastien Cape (183-93) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Caen players scored in double figures. American-British point guard Akeem Williams (178-91, college: Mass.-Lowell) answered with 18 points and 5 assists and American power forward Curtis Kelly (208-88, college: Kansas St., agency: HMS) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Aix-Maurienne. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Caen maintains eighth place with 6-5 record, which they share with Rouen. Loser Aix-Maurienne dropped to the fourteenth position with eight games lost. Caen will face Denain Voltaire (#11) on the road in the next round. Aix-Maurienne will play against Nantes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
