Regular Season Round 11: Hawks - Wildcats 96-84

The game between second ranked Perth Wildcats (10-5) and seventh ranked Illawarra Hawks (6-9) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Perth Wildcats were defeated by Illawarra Hawks in Gwynneville 84-96. Illawarra Hawks forced 19 Perth Wildcats turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Illawarra Hawks made 7 blocks. American point guard Rotnei Clarke (183-89, college: Butler) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 6 assists. His fellow American import forward Demitrius Conger (196-90, college: St.Bonaventure) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Four Illawarra Hawks players scored in double figures. Cameroonian-American forward JP Tokoto (198-93, college: N.Carolina) answered with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Bryce Cotton (185-92, college: Providence, agency: Pensack Sports) added 23 points and 4 assists in the effort for Perth Wildcats. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Illawarra Hawks maintains seventh place with 6-9 record. Defending champion Perth Wildcats keep the second position with five games lost. Illawarra Hawks are looking forward to face higher ranked Bullets (#6) in Brisbane in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Perth Wildcats will play on the road against Cairns Taipans (#5) and are hoping to win this game.
