Regular Season Round 12: Tokyo Excel. - Toyoda Gosei 67-49

Rather expected game when 5th ranked Toyoda Gosei (8-6) was defeated on the road by third ranked Tokyo Excel. (8-4) 67-49 on Saturday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Tokyo Excel. made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American Justin Herold (203-91, college: Sonoma St.) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 18 rebounds and 6 blocks. Forward Yutaka Saito (194-80) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Patrick Simon (203-92, college: Seattle Pacific) who recorded 9 points and 15 rebounds and his fellow American import center Matthew Kendrick (215-90, college: St.Leo) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Tokyo Excel. have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 8-4 record having just two points less than leader Saitama Bron. Loser Toyoda Gosei dropped to the fourth place with six games lost. Tokyo Excel. will face league's leader Saitama Broncos on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Toyoda Gosei will play against Tokyo Big Blue and hope to win that game.
