Regular Season Round 15: Ortona - Recanati 67-90

There was no surprise when 16th ranked Ortona (3-12) was outleveled at home by fifth ranked Recanati (9-6) 90-67 on Saturday. Recanati dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Ortona's 28. It was a good game for the former international point guard Gionata Zampolli (189-85) who led his team to a victory with 31 points. Forward Attilio Pierini (201-81) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Recanati's coach Piero Coen felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Marcello Crusca (193-70, agency: Interperformances) answered with 12 points and 5 rebounds and guard Alessio Agostinone (182-94) added 14 points and 6 assists in the effort for Ortona. Recanati moved-up to third place in B, which they share with Vicenza and Faenza. Loser Ortona dropped to the fourteenth position with 12 games lost. Recanati will face Senigallia (#6) on the road in the next round. Ortona will play against Porto S.Elpidio (#10) and hope to win that game.
