Regular Season Round 19: Hitachi SR - Toyota Alvark 62-91

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tokyo: Toyota Alvark (#1) and Hitachi Sunrockers (#3). Hitachi Sunrockers were crushed at home by 29 points 62-91 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Toyota Alvark dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Hitachi Sunrockers' 30. Toyota Alvark looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American center Brendan Lane (206-90, college: Pepperdine) fired 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Daiki Tanaka (191-91) chipped in 13 points and 5 assists. Four Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. Toyota Alvark's coach Luka Pavicevic felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International point guard Leo Vendrame (183-93) produced 16 points and the former international forward Yuki Mitsuhara (198-89) added 12 points respectively for lost side. Toyota Alvark maintains first place with 20-6 record. Loser Hitachi Sunrockers keep the third position with eight games lost. Toyota Alvark will face league's second-placed Chiba Jets at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against Toshiba Thunders and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
