Everything went according to plan in Changchun where ninth ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (12-8) won against 17th ranked Jilin Tigers (5-15) 123-114. They outrebounded Jilin Tigers 51-40 including 38 on the defensive glass. Xinjiang Flying Tige players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Jilin Tigers helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by American-Bulgarian point guard Darius Adams (188-89, college: Indianapolis, agency: Dutt Sports Services) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 12 assists and the former international center Changdong Yu (206-91) supported him with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Even 36 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) by American guard Von Wafer (196-85, college: Florida St.) did not help to save the game for Jilin Tigers. His fellow American import forward Carl Landry (206-83, college: Purdue) added 23 points and 15 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Beijing D. Jilin Tigers at the other side keep the seventeenth position with 15 games lost. Xinjiang Flying Tige's next round opponent will be higher ranked Flying Leopards (#3) in Yingkou and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Jilin Tigers will play on the road against Bayi Rockets (#19) in Ningbo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
