Regular Season Round 26: Sendai 89ers - Kumamoto V. 76-86

Date: December 23, 2017
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Sendai. Third ranked Kumamoto V. faced one of their biggest challengers Sendai 89ers. Guests from Kumamoto (17-8) defeated host Sendai 89ers (11-14) 86-76. They outrebounded Sendai 89ers 45-27 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Kumamoto V. players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Dutch-Australian power forward Josh Duinker (209-89, college: Richmond) notched a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia) supported him with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Woodbury is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds by U.S. Virgin Islands center Craig Williams (206-89, college: TCU) did not help to save the game for Sendai 89ers. Guard Shuto Mizoguchi (187-87) added 18 points for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Kumamoto V. moved-up to second place. Sendai 89ers lost third consecutive game. They keep the third position with 14 games lost. Kumamoto V. will have a break next round. Sendai 89ers will play again at home against the league's second-placed Kumamoto V. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
