Regular Season Round 13: AE Sedis - Gernika 60-65

The most interesting game of round 13 in the LFB was a home defeat of 8th ranked AE Sedis (6-7) to seventh ranked Gernika (7-6) 65-60 in the game for the seventh place. It ended the two-game winning streak of AE Sedis. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-16. But AE Sedis won second period 16-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gernika dominated on the defensive end, holding AE Sedis to just 7 points in third quarter. Gernika had a 35-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Russian forward Marina Bas (194-85) stepped up and scored 23 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and American center Talia Caldwell (188-91, college: California) chipped in 11 points and 12 rebounds. Gernika's coach Mario Lopez used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Jamaican forward Shereesha Richards (185-93, college: Albany) responded with 21 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and American forward Mehryn Kraker (183, college: Green Bay, agency: LBM Management) scored 13 points. Gernika maintains seventh place with 7-6 record. AE Sedis at the other side keeps the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with Al-Qazeres and Araski. Gernika are looking forward to face higher ranked Sant Adria (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AE Sedis will play against Gipuzkoa UPV and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
