The game in Utrecht supposed to be also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Royal Eagles (7-4) played at the court of 7th ranked Amazone (2-10). Royal Eagles smashed Amazone 88-40 on Saturday. Royal Eagles dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Amazone's 26. Royal Eagles forced 38 Amazone turnovers and outrebounded them 51-27 including a 23-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by center Laura Steggink (184-97) who scored that evening 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Yfke Hoek (175-98) supported her with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Royal Eagles players scored in double figures. Royal Eagles' coach Joost van Rangelrooy felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 17 points and 4 assists by Mayra Assink did not help to save the game for Amazone. Renee Hoveling (186-94) added 9 points and 9 rebounds. Royal Eagles moved-up to third place, which they share with Loon Lions. Amazone lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with ten games lost. Royal Eagles will meet at home Grasshoppers (#5) in the next round. Amazone will play against the league's second-placed Den Helder and hope to secure a win.
