Regular Season Round 12: Fiat TO - Grissin Bon RE 87-64
Date: December 23, 2017
Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Grissin Bon RE (4-8) was outscored by fourth ranked Fiat TO (8-4) in Torino 87-64 on Saturday. Fiat TO outrebounded Grissin Bon RE 39-24 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by American-Nigerian power forward Trevor Mbakwe (207-89, college: Minnesota, agency: Pensack Sports) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and Slovenian Sasha Vujacic (201-84, agency: Interperformances) supported him with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Five Fiat TO players scored in double figures. Even 12 points and 7 rebounds by American power forward Julian Wright (203-87, college: Kansas, agency: Alti Sport) did not help to save the game for Grissin Bon RE. His fellow American import point guard Chris Wright (185-89, college: Georgetown) added 10 points and 5 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fiat TO maintains fourth position with 8-4 record, which they share with Umana VE. Loser Grissin Bon RE dropped to the twelfth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Openjobmetis V. and The Flexx PT. Fiat TO will meet Dolomiti En. TR (#8) in the next round. Grissin Bon RE will play against MIA-RO Cantu (#7) and hope to secure a win.
