Regular Season Round 12: Tokyo Excel. - Toyoda Gosei 71-74

Important game to mention about took place in Tokyo. Fifth ranked Toyoda Gosei (8-6) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging one of their biggest challengers Tokyo Excel. (8-4) 74-71 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Tokyo Excel.. It was a good game for American forward Patrick Simon (203-92, college: Seattle Pacific) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds. Point guard Eiji Sumihiro (171-89) contributed with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. American Justin Herold (203-91, college: Sonoma St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Jordan Faison (201-94, college: Cal Poly Pomona) added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Tokyo Excel.Five Toyoda Gosei and four Tokyo Excel. players scored in double figures. Tokyo Excel.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Toyoda Gosei moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Otsuka A. Tokyo Excel. at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. Toyoda Gosei will play against bottom-ranked Tokyo Big Blue (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Tokyo Excel. will play against the league's leader Saitama Broncos (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
