Regular Season Round 20: Shanghai S. - Guangzhou LL 114-118

Date: December 24, 2017
No shocking result in a game in Shanghai where tenth ranked Long-Lions (11-9) defeated 12th ranked Sharks (9-11) 118-114. Long-Lions dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Sharks' 30. They outrebounded Sharks 61-43 including 19 on the offensive glass. Long-Lions brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. 36 personal fouls committed by Sharks helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was dominated by American players. The winners were led by guard Semaj Christon (190-92, college: Xavier) who scored that evening 45 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Tyler Hansbrough (206-85, college: N.Carolina) supported him with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Even a double-double of 32 points and 11 rebounds (was perfect 14-for-14 from the free throw line !!!) by Nick Minnerath (207-88, college: Detroit Mercy) did not help to save the game for Sharks. Point guard Jimmer Fredette (188-89, college: BYU) added 31 points for the hosts. Four Long-Lions and five Sharks players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Long-Lions maintains tenth position with 11-9 record. Sharks at the other side keep the twelfth place with 11 games lost. Long-Lions' next round opponent will be higher ranked Guandong Tigers (#5) in Dongguan and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Sharks will play at home against Gold Lions (#18) and hope to win that game.
