Regular Season Round 16: Al-Ittihad - Al-Riffa 82-76
Date: December 24, 2017
The game in Manama was also quite interesting. 7th ranked Al-Riffa (8-6) played at the court of eighth ranked Al-Ittihad (9-6). Al-Ittihad managed to secure a 6-point victory 82-76 on Sunday. Al-Ittihad forced 19 Al-Riffa turnovers. The winners were led by American forward Antwan Wilkerson (201-91, college: Johnson C. Smith) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and Ali Ghadeer supported him with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Four Al-Ittihad players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 40 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds by American-New Zealand forward Marcel Jones (203-85, college: Oregon St.) did not help to save the game for Al-Riffa. Mohammed Hakeem added 12 points for lost side. Al-Ittihad have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place. Newly promoted Al-Riffa dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Al-Ittihad will meet at home higher ranked Al-Hala (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Al-Riffa will play against the league's second-placed Al-Manama having rather not much hope for a victory.
