Very important is a road loss of second ranked Kumamoto V. (17-9) against fourth ranked Sendai 89ers (12-14) on Sunday night. Visiting Kumamoto V. was defeated by Sendai 89ers in Sendai 69-53. Sendai 89ers held Kumamoto V. to an opponent 23.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 38.8 percent accuracy of the winners. It was a good game for U.S. Virgin Islands center Craig Williams (206-89, college: TCU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 20 rebounds. Guard Ryunosuke Yanagawa (187-91) contributed with 10 points and 4 assists for the winners. Dutch-Australian power forward Josh Duinker (209-89, college: Richmond) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 18 rebounds and forward Mao Fukuda (192-89) added 9 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Kumamoto V.Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sendai 89ers moved-up to third place, which they share with Yamagata. Loser Kumamoto V. keeps the second position with nine games lost. Sendai 89ers will have a break next round. Kumamoto V. will play at home against Iwate Big Bulls and hope to win that game.
