Regular Season Round 16: Al-Bahrain - Al-Muharraq 87-111

Date: December 25, 2017
Very expected game when 10th ranked Al-Bahrain (4-11) was smashed by third ranked Al-Muharraq (11-3) in Manama 111-87 on Monday. Al-Muharraq shot 61.9 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. Al-Muharraq looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The winners were led by Bader Abdulla who scored that evening 27 points and 5 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and American center Jordan Richard (206-89, college: CS Los Angeles, agency: Slash Sports) supported him with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Al-Muharraq players scored in double figures. Al-Muharraq's coach Ivan Jeremic felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 32 points and 13 rebounds by American forward Merrill Holden (203-93, college: Iowa St., agency: SDJ Sports) did not help to save the game for Al-Bahrain. Khalid Ali added 20 points for lost side. Al-Muharraq have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 11-3 record having just three points less than leader Al-Ahli. Al-Bahrain lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 11 games lost. Al-Muharraq will meet at home bottom-ranked Samaheej (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Al-Bahrain will play against Sitra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
