A very interesting game took place in Yixing. It ended with only three-point home defeat of higher ranked Jiangsu Phoenix (8-9) to twelfth ranked Whale (6-11) 70-67 on Monday evening. Belarusian center Yelena Levchenko (196-83, college: W.Virginia) nailed a double-double by scoring 28 points and 20 rebounds for the winning side and forward Xuetong Zhao (185-94) accounted for 16 points. Chen-Yan Xu came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks and center Li Sun (185-95) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively for Jiangsu Phoenix in the defeat. Whale moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Shenyang and Zhejiang. Newly promoted Jiangsu Phoenix dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. Whale's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Beijing Great Wall at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
