We should mention about the upset which took place in Yavne, where 7th ranked Hap.Haifa (6-5) was outleveled in a road game by tenth ranked Elitzur Yavne (4-7) 92-68. Elitzur Yavne outrebounded Hap.Haifa 43-29 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. American power forward Germain Jordan (198-86, college: Dillard) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 13 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field). His fellow American import center DeAngelo Riley (206-88, college: Azusa Pacific) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Cuban center Ismael Romero (203-91, agency: Paris Global Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 13 rebounds and American swingman LaMarcus Reed (196-88, college: Texas Arlington) added 11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Hap.Haifa. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Elitzur Yavne moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Maccabi Raanana. Hap.Haifa lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Hapoel B/S. Elitzur Yavne will play against higher ranked Hap.R/G Givat. (#3) in Givataim in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hap.Haifa will play on the road against Hapoel B/S in Beer Sheva and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
