Very expected game in Kiryat Gat where 8th ranked Hasharon (5-6) was defeated by second ranked Maccabi K/G (9-2) 98-86. Maccabi K/G outrebounded Hasharon 50-33 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. Maccabi K/G brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. The former international center Robert Rothbart (217-86, agency: Octagon Europe) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 16 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks. American point guard Keddric Mays (183-84) contributed with 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American forward Jordan Washington (203, college: Iona) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard Vernon Teel (193-87, college: Loyola Mary) added 13 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists in the effort for Hasharon. Four Hasharon players scored in double figures. Maccabi K/G used an opportunity after Macc.Rehovot lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Hasharon at the other side keeps the eighth place with six games lost. Maccabi K/G will play against bottom-ranked Hapoel Migd.H. (#14) in Tarshicha in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Hasharon will play at home against Maccabi Raanana (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
