Regular Season Round 12: Fos-Provence - Poitiers 83-69
Date: December 27, 2017
Not a big story in a game in Fos-sur-Mer where 13th ranked Poitiers (4-8) was defeated by seventh ranked Provence Basket (8-4) 83-69 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Provence Basket. Poitiers was better in third quarter 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Provence Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Poitiers' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Provence Basket made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Tariq Kirksay (199-79, college: Iona, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international Jordan Aboudou (201-91) who added 17 points during the contest. Provence Basket's coach Remi Giutta allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was Senegalese Ibrahima Faye (207-97) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Ricky Tarrant (188-93, college: Memphis) scored 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Poitiers players scored in double figures. Provence Basket have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Nancy. Loser Poitiers keeps the thirteenth position with eight games lost. Provence Basket will face Quimper UJAP (#17) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Poitiers will play against the league's leader Entente Orleans 45 (#1) and hope to win that game.
