There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Hokkaido L. (16-12) defeated second-ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (13-15) in Saporro 69-64 on Friday. Hokkaido L. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Canadian-Italian power forward Marc Trasolini (206-90, college: Santa Clara) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Asahi Tajima (173-88) contributed with 11 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. American guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Robert Dozier (206-85, college: Memphis) added 14 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for San-en NeoPhoenix. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Hokkaido L. have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Kyoto Hannar. Loser San-en NeoPhoenix keeps the second position with 15 games lost. Hokkaido L. will face Toshiba Thunders (#3) in Kanagawa in the next round, which may be the game of the day. San-en NeoPhoenix will play at home against Hitachi Sunrockers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
