Regular Season Round 20: Shiga L-Stars - Yokohama BC 69-87

There was a minor upset when one of their biggest challengers Shiga L-Stars (11-17) lost at home to sixth ranked Yokohama BC (8-20) 87-69 on Friday. Yokohama BC outrebounded Shiga L-Stars 46-30 including 31 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Tanzanian center Hasheem Thabeet (218-87, college: Connecticut) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 15 rebounds. The former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) contributed with 24 points and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Narito Namizato (172-89) replied with 18 points, 8 assists and 4 steals and American-Israeli center DOr Fischer (211-81, college: W.Virginia) added 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Shiga L-Stars. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Yokohama BC moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Osaka Evessa. Shiga L-Stars lost third consecutive game. They keep the third position with 17 games lost. Yokohama BC will face league's second-placed Chiba Jets on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Shiga L-Stars will play against Tochigi Brex and hope to win that game.
