Regular Season Round 13: Stelmet - GTK Gliwice 91-90

Sixteenth-ranked GTK (3-11) was very close to win a game against fourth ranked Stelmet (10-4) in Zielona Gora. Stelmet managed to secure only one-point victory 91-90. However their fans expected much easier game. Stelmet dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to GTK's 38. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. GTK was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Montenegrin power forward Vladimir Dragicevic (206-86) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and international center Adam Hrycaniuk (206-84, college: Cincinnati) chipped in 14 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side the former international point guard Robert Skibniewski (182-83) responded with 18 points and 6 assists and power forward Marcin Salamonik (202-83) scored 16 points. Four GTK players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Polski Cukier. Newly promoted GTK keeps the sixteenth position with 11 games lost. Stelmet will play against league's second-placed Anwil in Wloclawek in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. GTK will play on the road against Polpharma (#9) in Starogard Gdanski and hopes to get back on the winning track.
