Rather expected game when 8th ranked Bendigo Spirit (4-17) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Adelaide Lightning (11-10) 87-74 on Friday. Adelaide Lightning looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Canadian center Ruth Hamblin (198-94, college: Oregon St., agency: LBM Management) stepped up and scored 23 points and 9 rebounds (made all of her nine free throws !!!) for the winners and the former international guard Nicole Seekamp (178-92, college: S.Dakota) chipped in 22 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Four Adelaide Lightning players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Betnijah Laney (183-93, college: Rutgers, agency: LBM Management) responded with 20 points and power forward Nadeen Payne (188-93, agency: LBM Management) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Bendigo Spirit's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Adelaide Lightning maintains fifth place with 11-10 record. Bendigo Spirit lost their third game in a row.
