Regular Season Round 21: Kouvot - Lapua 81-88

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Kouvot (13-7) against eleventh ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (4-15) on Saturday night. Host Kouvot was defeated by Lapuan Korikobrat in a tough game in Kouvola 81-88. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kouvot. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 24-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. The best player for the winners was point guard Stephen Croone (183-94, college: Furman) who scored 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Maurice Creek (196-90, college: G.Washington) chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Thomas Gipson (201-93, college: Kansas St., agency: HMS) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds and guard Wayne Bernard (190-81, college: Davidson) added 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Four Lapuan Korikobrat and five Kouvot players scored in double figures. Lapuan Korikobrat moved-up to tenth place. Loser Kouvot keeps the second position with seven games lost. Lapuan Korikobrat will meet at home higher ranked Joensuun Kataja (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kouvot will have a break next round.
