Regular Season Round 14: Burgos - Gipuzkoa GBC 76-99

Not a big story in a game when 17th ranked Burgos (3-11) was rolled over at home by twelfth ranked Gipuzkoa (5-9) 99-76 on Saturday. Gipuzkoa dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Burgos' 34. They outrebounded Burgos 40-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. American-Nigerian power forward Danny Agbelese (206-90, college: Hampton) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Dutch center Henk Norel (213-87) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Five Gipuzkoa players scored in double figures. American guard John Jenkins (193-91, college: Vanderbilt, agency: BeoBasket) responded with 14 points and American-Georgian point guard Corey Fisher (186-88, college: Villanova) scored 13 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Despite that victory Gipuzkoa went down to thirteenth position due to points difference, which they share with RETAbet BB. Burgos at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the bottom place with 11 games lost. Gipuzkoa will face higher ranked CB Canarias (#5) in Tenerife in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Burgos will play on the road against Andorra (#8) and hope to win that game.
