Regular Season Round 14: Sant Adria - Gernika 52-68

There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Gernika (8-6) defeated on the road 5th ranked Sant Adria (8-6) 68-52. It looked good early as Sant Adria took a 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gernika took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 16 points. They outrebounded Sant Adria 40-21 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Point guard Juana Molina-Prados (172-91) notched 14 points to lead the effort and point guard Anna Gomez (181-86, agency: ProDep Management) supported her with 5 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 8 points and 7 rebounds by Mali center Mariam Coulibaly (193-97) did not help to save the game for Sant Adria. Czech center Julia Reisingerova (194-98) added 10 points for the hosts. Sant Adria's coach Fabian Tellez tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Gernika have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Gipuzkoa UPV and Sant Adria. Gernika's next round opponent will be Zamarat (#12) in Zamora and are hoping to win another game. Sant Adria will play on the road against Gipuzkoa UPV (#7) in San Sebastian and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
