Regular Season Round 20: Nagoya DD - SeaHorses 93-79

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Aishin Sea Horses (22-6) in Nagoya on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by fourth ranked Diamond Dolphins (11-17) 93-79. Diamond Dolphins dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Aishin Sea Horses' 38. They outrebounded Aishin Sea Horses 36-24 including 28 on the defensive glass. Diamond Dolphins looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Aishin Sea Horses' players. American Craig Brackins (208-87, college: Iowa St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The other American import forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) contributed with 22 points (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) replied with 13 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Daniel Orton (208-90, college: Kentucky) added 16 points in the effort for Aishin Sea Horses. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Diamond Dolphins moved-up to third place, which they share with Shiga L-Stars. Aishin Sea Horses at the other side still keep top position with six games lost. They share it with Toyota Alvark. Diamond Dolphins is looking forward to face Niigata Albirex (#5) at home in the next round. Aishin Sea Horses will play against Nishinomiya S. (#6) and are hoping to win this game.
