Twentieth-ranked Blue Whales (3-19) gave a tough game to tenth ranked Long-Lions (12-10) in Sichuan. The visitors from Guangzhou managed to secure only three-point victory 107-104. However their fans expected much easier game. Long-Lions made 25-of-29 charity shots (86.2 percent) during the game. Strangely Blue Whales outrebounded Long-Lions 47-33 including 19 on the offensive glass. 26 personal fouls committed by Blue Whales helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Palestinian center Sani Sakakini (204-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Semaj Christon (190-92, college: Xavier) contributed with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Four Long-Lions players scored in double figures. Long-Lions' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-85) replied with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 19 rebounds and 7 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and American Jamaal Franklin (196-91, college: San Diego St., agency: Slash Sports) added 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Blue Whales. Long-Lions maintains tenth position with 12-10 record. Blue Whales at the other side stay dead last with 19 lost games. Long-Lions' next round opponent will be higher ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (#9) in Urumqi and it may be quite challenging game. Blue Whales will play at home against Guandong Tigers (#4) and hope to win that game.
