Regular Season Round 20: Niigata Albirex - Tochigi Brex 80-99

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Niigata Albirex (10-18) was outleveled at home by sixth ranked Tochigi Brex (13-15) 99-80 on Saturday. Tochigi Brex looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Niigata Albirex's players. American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. The other American import guard Cedric Bozeman (198-83, college: UCLA) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) replied with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds and the former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) added 10 points and 8 assists in the effort for Niigata Albirex. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Tochigi Brex have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with San-en and Toyama Grouses. Niigata Albirex lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 18 games lost. Tochigi Brex will face Shiga L-Stars (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Niigata Albirex will play against Diamond Dolphins in Nagoya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
