Regular Season Round 26: Libertadores - Mineros 82-88

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Mineros (17-7) beat bottom-ranked Libertadores (5-19) in Queretaro 88-82 on Saturday. Mineros looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. Panamanian center Jaime Lloreda (204-80, college: LSU) notched 14 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and American point guard Marcus Fillyaw (185-94, college: Ky Wesleyan, agency: Paris Global Sports) supported him with 11 points and 9 assists. Mineros' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 29 points and 9 rebounds by American power forward Gerard DeVaughn (206-88, college: Stillman) did not help to save the game for Libertadores. Dominican-Puerto Rican forward Jonathan Rodriguez (196-87, college: Campbell) added 19 points and 7 assists for the hosts. Five Mineros and four Libertadores players scored in double figures. Mineros have an impressive six-game winning streak. Newly promoted Mineros maintains second position with 17-7 record behind leader Fuerza Regia. Libertadores lost eighth consecutive game. Libertadores at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay at the bottom place with 19 games lost. Mineros will meet at home Aaguacateros (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Libertadores will play against Correcaminos (#5) in Ciudad Victoria and hope to secure a win.
