A very close game took place in Guangzhou between Jiangsu Phoenix and Guangdong Dolphins. Fifth ranked Jiangsu Phoenix (10-9) got a very close victory on the road over 9th ranked Guangdong Dolphins (8-11). Jiangsu Phoenix managed to escape with a 3-point win 69-66 on Saturday evening. Jiangsu Phoenix forced 19 Guangdong Dolphins turnovers. Strangely Guangdong Dolphins outrebounded Jiangsu Phoenix 42-30 including 28 on the defensive glass. Chen-Yan Xu fired 18 points for the winners. Guard Na Jinwei (180-92) chipped in 7 points and 7 assists. American-Montenegrin forward Glory Johnson (191-90, college: Tennessee, agency: ProDep Management) produced a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds and forward Dongxia Zhang (183-90) added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Newly promoted Jiangsu Phoenix maintains fifth place with 10-9 record, which they share with Bayi. Guangdong Dolphins lost their seventh game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with 11 games lost. They share it with Liaoning and Zhejiang. Jiangsu Phoenix will meet at home Shenyang Golden Lions (#13) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Guangdong Dolphins will play against Whale (#11) and hope to secure a win.
