Regular Season Round 12: Hawks - Bullets 104-82

Date: December 31, 2017
The game between closely ranked teams ended with 7th ranked Bullets' (7-11) road loss to sixth ranked Illawarra Hawks (8-9) 82-104 on Sunday. Illawarra Hawks dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Bullets' 38 and made 17-of-17 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Illawarra Hawks looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Demitrius Conger (196-90, college: St.Bonaventure) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists and the other American import point guard Rotnei Clarke (183-89, college: Butler) who added 21 points during the contest. Four Illawarra Hawks players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American point guard Travis Trice (183-93, college: Michigan St.) with 32 points and 4 assists and the former international power forward Daniel Kickert (208-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Illawarra Hawks have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place. Bullets lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 11 games lost. Illawarra Hawks will face higher ranked United (#3) in Melbourne in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Bullets will play at home against Adelaide 36ers (#4) and hope to win that game.
