Regular Season Round 23: Shandong GS - Beijing D. 128-126

A very close game took place in Jinan between Golden Stars and Beijing Ducks. Fourth ranked Golden Stars (16-7) got a very close home victory over 9th ranked Beijing Ducks (14-9). Golden Stars managed to escape with a 2-point win 128-126 on Sunday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Golden Stars dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Beijing Ducks' 50. They outrebounded Beijing Ducks 43-31 including 30 on the defensive glass. Golden Stars looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for international forward Yanyuhang Ding (200-93) who led his team to a victory scoring 38 points (!!!). American point guard Ty Lawson (180-87, college: N.Carolina) helped adding 22 points, 7 rebounds and 13 assists. Golden Stars' coach Aleksandar Kesar used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international forward Xiaochuan Zhai (205-93) responded with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Croatian-American center Justin Hamilton (213-90, college: LSU) scored 25 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Despite that victory Golden Stars went down to fifth position due to points difference. Loser Beijing Ducks dropped to the eighth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Xinjiang FT. Golden Stars will meet Golden Bulls (#7) in the next round. Beijing Ducks will play against Gold Lions and hope to secure a win.
