Top ranked Mogi (10-2) recorded its second loss in Mogi das Cruzes on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Paulistano (9-3) 84-80. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Paulistano had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was international forward Lucas Dias-Silva (209-95) who scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international point guard Elio Corazza (193-89, college: Miami Dade CC) chipped in 7 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF) who recorded 28 points and 6 rebounds and the former international point guard Larry Taylor (185-80, college: Missouri Western) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Paulistano have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Franca. Mogi at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Paulistano is looking forward to face Joinville (#13) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Mogi will play against Flamengo (#6) in Rio de Janeiro and is hoping to win this game.
