Regular Season Round 14: Beirut Club - Homenetmen 81-86

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Beirut: Homenetmen (#1) and Beirut Club (#6). Beirut Club was defeated at home 81-86 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican point guard Walter Hodge (183-86, college: Florida) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. American swingman Sam Young (198-85, college: Pittsburgh) contributed with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Bassel Bawji (203-89, college: Tulsa) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Chris Crawford (193-92, college: Memphis) added 20 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals in the effort for Beirut Club. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Homenetmen (13-1) have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Beirut Club lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fifth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Moutahed. Homenetmen will play against bottom-ranked Tadamon (#10) in Zouk in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Beirut Club will play at home against CS Antonins (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
