Regular Season Round 11: Hapoel Holon - Ironi Nahariya 98-90

Very expected game when 7th ranked Ironi Nahariya (5-6) was defeated on the road by third ranked Hapoel Holon (8-3) 98-90 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 49-38 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Hapoel Holon made 26-of-29 free shots (89.7 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Hapoel Holon looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for American swingman Glen Rice Jr. (198-91, college: Georgia Tech) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 4 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). His fellow American import guard Corey Walden (188-92, college: E.Kentucky, agency: KMG Sports Management) helped adding 20 points and 5 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Four Hapoel Holon players scored in double figures. American swingman Alex Young (198-89, college: IUPUI, agency: Two Points) responded with 21 points and naturalized Ukrainian center Igor Nesterenko (203-90) scored 20 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hapoel Holon moved-up to second place, which they share with Hapoel J-M. Ironi Nahariya lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. They share it with Maccabi Rishon and Hapoel Eilat. Hapoel Holon will meet at home Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#5) in the next round. Ironi Nahariya will play against the league's second-placed Hapoel Jerusalem and hope to secure a win.
