Regular Season Round 7: Ferrocarril - Atenas 78-80

The most exciting game of round 7 in the LigaA took place in Buenos Aires. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 4th placed Ferrocarril (4-3) to second ranked Atenas (6-2) 80-78 on Saturday evening. 24 personal fouls committed by Ferrocarril helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Donald Sims (185-87, college: Appalachian St., agency: Pensack Sports) who helped to win the game recording 26 points (made all of his seven free throws). His fellow American import power forward Roquez Johnson (201-92, college: Mississippi St.) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Atenas players scored in double figures. American Aaron Harper (203-81, college: Mississippi) answered with 17 points and Mauro Cosolito (195-88) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Ferrocarril. Ferrocarril's coach Ariel Rearte tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Atenas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 6-2 record behind leader San Lorenzo. Ferrocarril at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Atenas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ferrocarril will play again at home against the league's second-placed Atenas (#2) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
