Regular Season Round 13: Hawks - United 77-79

Date: January 6, 2018
Important game to mention about took place in Gwynneville. Third ranked United (12-6) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 6th ranked Illawarra Hawks (8-10) 79-77 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Illawarra Hawks. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Carrick Felix (198-90, college: Arizona St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. The former international guard Chris Goulding (192-88) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Five United players scored in double figures. American forward Demitrius Conger (196-90, college: St.Bonaventure) answered with 22 points and 5 rebounds and international power forward Nick Kay (206-92, college: Metro St.) added 17 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Illawarra Hawks. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. United have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Wildcats and Breakers. Illawarra Hawks at the other side keep the sixth place with ten games lost. United will play against Cairns Taipans (#5) at home in the next round. Illawarra Hawks will play against the league's second-placed New Zealand Breakers and hope to get back on the winning track.
