There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Jekabpils (3-11) beat at home 7th ranked Valmiera (3-12) 67-63 on Saturday. Valmiera was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 22-16 charge of Jekabpils, which allowed them to win the game. Valmiera was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Lithuanian guard Dominykas Domarkas (190-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 11 points and 7 assists. Forward Arturs Vitins (198-92, college: Ohio Valley) contributed with 12 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Center Viktors Iljins (212-91) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds and point guard Janis Kaufmanis (186-89, agency: HMS) added 21 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Valmiera. Valmiera's coach Kristaps Valters let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Jekabpils moved-up to seventh place. Valmiera lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with 12 games lost.
