Regular Season Round 13: Alcobendas - Almeria 94-63

Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked Alcobendas (9-4) outplayed at home 13th ranked Almeria (2-11) 94-63 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 94-63. Alcobendas outrebounded Almeria 48-29 including 34 on the defensive glass. Quite impressive performance for center Aitana Cuevas (189-86) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Sheila Mangada (172-85, agency: ProDep Management) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Alcobendas players scored in double figures. Power forward Alicia Gonzalez (187-86) answered with 18 points and 7 rebounds and Bosnian center Samra Omerbasic (191-90, agency: PEPI SPORT) added 16 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Almeria. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Alcobendas. They moved-up to fifth place in Group B, which they share with Adelantados. Almeria lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth position with 11 games lost. Alcobendas will face league's leader Gran Canaria in Las Palmas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Almeria will play on the road against Olimpico 64 (#11) in Madrid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
