There was an upset in La Spezia where higher ranked Spezzina (8-5) was defeated by eleventh ranked Roma SRB (5-8) 56-48 on Saturday. Roma SRB forced 19 Spezzina turnovers. Strangely Spezzina outrebounded Roma SRB 46-30 including 31 on the defensive glass. Point guard Valeria Giorgi (168-97) scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Israeli point guard Giulia Prosperi (180-97) chipped in 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Roma SRB's coach Amedeo D'Antoni used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The former international guard Elisa Templari (175-89, agency: LBM Management) responded with 13 points and 8 rebounds and British-Portuguese center Lavinia Silva (187-88) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Newly promoted Roma SRB maintains eleventh position in A2 with 5-8 record. Loser Spezzina keeps the fifth place with five games lost. Roma SRB will face higher ranked Civitanova (#7) in Civitanova Marche in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Spezzina will play on the road against the league's leader Empoli and will have a slim chance for a victory.
