Regular Season Round 13: Tokyo Cinq R. - Tokyo HT 78-96

Date: January 6, 2018
Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Tokyo: Tokyo HT (#1) and Tokyo Cinq R. (#8). Tokyo Cinq R. was crushed at home by 18 points 78-96 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Tokyo HT had a 34-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Tokyo HT brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. American power forward Alex Jones (206-87, college: Seattle) stepped up and scored 28 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners and his fellow American import forward Brennan McElroy (201-91, college: Indianapolis) chipped in 9 points and 13 rebounds. At the losing side American guard Andre Murray (188-87, college: Portland St.) responded with 23 points and 5 rebounds and guard Kusano Kusano (185-97) scored 16 points. Four Tokyo Cinq R. players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tokyo HT have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 12-2 record. Tokyo Cinq R. lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 12 games lost. Tokyo HT will play against Aisin AW (#7) in Aichi in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Tokyo Cinq R.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo Tokyo Big Blue.
