Regular Season Round 21: Sichuan - Shenyang 78-75

A very close game took place in Sichuan between Whale and Shenyang Golden Lions. Thirteenth ranked Whale (7-14) got a very close home victory over 12th ranked Shenyang Golden Lions (6-15). Whale managed to escape with a 3-point win 78-75 on Saturday evening. Whale dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Shenyang Golden Lions' 22. Belarusian center Yelena Levchenko (196-83, college: W.Virginia) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points and 15 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winning side and forward Xuetong Zhao (185-94) accounted for 26 points and 4 steals. The former international forward Shuang Zhao (188-90) came up with 23 points and guard Qiujiao Jia (175-90) added 18 points respectively for Shenyang Golden Lions in the defeat. Whale moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Shandong. Shenyang Golden Lions lost their sixth game in a row. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. Whale will meet at home higher ranked Bayi Kylin (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Shenyang Golden Lions will play against Heilongjiang (#8) and hope to secure a win.
