Regular Season Round 13: Ascensores Tresa - Arxil Pontev. 57-71

No shocking result in a game when ninth ranked Arxil Pontevedra (7-6) beat 11th ranked Ascensores Tresa (4-9) in Gijon 71-57 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Arxil Pontevedra. Ascensores Tresa was better in fourth quarter 11-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a very good performance for Arantxa Mallou (181-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. Forward Cristina Diaz (182-93) contributed with 14 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Arxil Pontevedra's coach Mayte Mendez used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Argentinian Isabella Sangali answered with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and center Claudia Calvelo (192-92, agency: ProDep Management) added 14 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Ascensores Tresa. Arxil Pontevedra moved-up to sixth place in Group A, which they share with 3 other teams. Ascensores Tresa lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with nine games lost. Arxil Pontevedra will face Segle XXI (#13) in Barcelona in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ascensores Tresa will play at home against Aros Patatas and hope to win that game.
