Regular Season Round 13: CVCD Granada - Leganes 58-67

Date: January 6, 2018
There was no surprise when 9th ranked CVCD Granada (4-9) lost at home to second ranked Leganes (10-3) 67-58 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 16-11. But CVCD Granada won second period 22-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Leganes won last quarter 21-13. Quite impressive performance for American forward Kiara Kudron (188, college: Gonzaga) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Icelandic forward Hildur Kjartansdottir (188-94, college: UTRGV, agency: ProDep Management) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Leganes' coach Nacho Garcia used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bosnian center Aleksandra Begenisic (193-89) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and Isabel Pastor added 14 points in the effort for CVCD Granada. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Leganes. They maintain second place in Group B with 10-3 record having just three points less than leader Gran Canaria. CVCD Granada lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. Leganes will face Picken Claret (#7) in Valencia in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. CVCD Granada will play at home against Promete and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
