Regular Season Round 15: Basket Esch - Residence 93-90

Seventh-ranked Residence (5-8) was very close to win a game against second ranked Basket Esch (10-4). Basket Esch managed to secure only three-point victory 93-90. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Residence. Basket Esch made 25-of-31 charity shots (80.6 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American power forward Clancy Rugg (203-91, college: Vermont, agency: Court Side) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 19 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. The former international Joe Biever (184-90) helped adding 20 points and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Four Basket Esch players scored in double figures. Basket Esch's coach Sylvain Lautie allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Oliver Vujakovic (192-96) with 32 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Vincent Bailey (201-91, college: Lincoln Memorial) scored 26 points and 7 rebounds. Basket Esch maintains second place with 10-4 record having just two points less than leader Amicale, which they share with Etzella. Residence at the other side dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. Basket Esch will play against T71 (#4) in Dudelange in the next round. Residence will play on the road against Sparta (#6) in Bertrange and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
