Regular Season Round 15: Ferrol - Bembibre 82-69

Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Socinsa Bembibre (5-10) lost on the road to third ranked Universitario de Ferrol (11-4) 82-69. The game was mostly controlled by Universitario de Ferrol. Socinsa Bembibre was better in third quarter 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Universitario de Ferrol won last quarter 23-12. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Socinsa Bembibre's 26. Universitario de Ferrol players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was a great evening for international power forward Maria Araujo (182-97) who led her team to a victory scoring 22 points and 8 rebounds. Canadian point guard Jamie Weisner (178-94, college: Oregon St., agency: LBM Management) helped adding 18 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Swedish forward Elin Gustavsson (190-93, college: Colorado St.) with 20 points and 8 rebounds and Montenegrin forward Jovana Pasic (180-92) scored 13 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Universitario de Ferrol maintains third place with 11-4 record having just three points less than leader Avenida. Socinsa Bembibre at the other side keeps the eleventh position with ten games lost. Universitario de Ferrol will play against bottom-ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (#14) in Madrid in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Socinsa Bembibre will play at home against Araski and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
