Regular Season Round 13: Haukar - Grindavik 90-78

Dominos League top team - Haukar (10-3) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat seventh ranked Grindavik (7-6) in Hafnarfjordur 90-78. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Grindavik. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-78. Haukar made 29-of-30 free shots (96.7 percent) during the game, while Grindavik only scored eight points from the stripe. 24 personal fouls committed by Grindavik helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. International guard Kari Jonsson (190-97, college: Drexel) stepped up and scored 30 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of his twelve free throws !!!) for the winners and American forward Paul Jones (198-89, college: W.Washington) chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side guard Dagur Jonsson (185-95, college: St.Francis, NY) responded with 20 points and 8 assists and the former international center Sigurdur Thorsteinsson (204-88) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds. Five Haukar and four Grindavik players scored in double figures. Haukar have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 10-3 record, which they share with KR and IR. Grindavik at the other side dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. They share it with Keflavik. Haukar is looking forward to face Thor Thorl (#9) in Thorlakshofn in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Grindavik will play at home against Keflavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
