There was no surprise when 7th ranked Castello (9-9) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Melilla Baloncesto (11-6) 75-68 on Sunday. Melilla Baloncesto outrebounded Castello 36-25 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was point guard Daniel Rodriguez (182-84) who scored 18 points and 5 assists. Center Fran Guerra (214-92) chipped in 18 points. Trinidad and Tobago center Kyle Rowley (213-90, college: St.Mary's, CA) produced 15 points and American-French guard Alfredo Ott (190-83, college: Dillard) added 11 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Melilla Baloncesto moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Oviedo. Loser Castello dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. Melilla Baloncesto will face Palencia Baloncesto (#10) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Castello will play against Araberri and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
