There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Faenza (6-7) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Savonese (6-7) 74-67 on Sunday. Savonese forced 24 Faenza turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Guard Lucrezia Zanetti (175-97) scored 22 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and guard Elisabetta Penz (172-96) chipped in 17 points during the contest. Four Savonese players scored in double figures. The former international forward Simona Ballardini (181-81) responded with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and point guard Federica Franceschelli (180-97) scored 17 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Savonese moved-up to ninth place in A2. Savonese will face Umbertide (#12) on the road in the next round. Faenza will play against Cagliari V. and hope to win that game.
